What a great day. August 21st 2019 was a great day for the Bernd Kussmaul GmbH, each and everyone will never forget!
According the official presentation of the medals for the 2019 Gymnastics World Championships in Stuttgart, the Bernd Kussmaul GmbH, as the initiator and “father of the medals”, invited 60 guests, including around 20 press representatives, to its manufactory in Weinstadt-Grossheppach, where the medals were created and will be given their very special finishing touches in the coming days.
Kußmaul GmbH has involved six further partners from Baden-Württemberg in the production of the medals, all of whom come from the extensive network of the Weinstadt manufactory and are used according to their technological know-how. The individual partners are: Baden-Württemberg State Coins, Stuttgart Region Economic Development Agency, Bauer Bandweberei, Maier in Emotion, Schübel Primeparts and Peptech.
In keeping with the setting, many celebrities accepted the invitation of Managing Director Bernd Kußmaul. Besides the Prime Minister of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Mr. Winfried Kretschmann and President of the Swabian Gymnastics Federation, Wolfgang Drexler, also Olympic Gymnastics Champion Fabian Hambuechen and National Team Gymnast Elisabeth Seitz attended the official medal presentation.
With the promise to create a medal, no one has seen so far, Bernd Kussmaul started the medal project together with his designer Li Sun and more employees. The medals of the World Gymnastics Championships attracted Bernd Kussmaul from the very beginning: “It gives us the opportunity to show the complete capability of KUSSMAUL – from the conception to the completion of the medal”.
The design of the medals is truly a masterpiece. Talking about the design, the development process of the medals has a lot in common with the long and intensive preparation of the gymnasts, who prepare themselves very hard in countless training hours to win one of the medals – design by KUSSMAUL. Both – the athletes as well as KUSSMAUL combine discipline, effort, passion and emotion.
At the presentation the medals were received with grandiosity and caused great amazement. Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann also praised the medal: “The medal not only looks impressive, it is also a symbol of the efficiency of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Courageous founders have made our state what it is today: the home of medium-sized businesses, hidden champions and world market leaders. And the company Bernd Kussmaul is an example of this. Thanks to the competence and creativity of this company, the award ceremonies will get a massive upgrade”.
Also, at the host side of the Worlds Championships, the Swabian Gymnastics Federation is really satisfied about the medals. President Wolfgang Drexler said: “Right from the start, we have declared our goal to organize the best Gymnastics World Championships ever. The focus will be on the gymnasts. It quickly became clear to us that we also wanted to reward this achievement at the award ceremony. From my point of view this is the best medal that has ever been won at a gymnastics world championship”.
It is a great praise from everyone’s side, but also the Bernd Kussmaul GmbH is also proud to look at the medals, that means a special project for the manufactory from Weinstadt in their company’s history. CEO Bernd Kussmaul thanked his employees “I am overwhelmed by what we have achieved together as a team!
The gymnasts themselves are also impressed by the medals from the Bernd Kussmaul manufactory. Elisabeth Seitz was even involved in the development process herself: “What the Bernd Kussmaul GmbH has created here is truly extraordinary. This shows how much heart and soul goes into the 2019 World Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart. From the gymnast’s side, we love the commitment and it gives us extra motivation for the preparation.”
Olympic high bar champion Fabian Hambuechen said with shining eyes looking at the medals: “A medal is always more than just a piece of metal. You work so long, so hard for it. The medal in Stuttgart is 100 percent worth the hard commitment”.
During the final tour through the manufactory, Winfried Kretschmann and the other invited guests were shown the work steps involved in the medal sets. A total of 31 work steps are necessary, some of them elaborate laborious manual work, to create the precious pieces at the end. The assembly, polishing and quality assurance steps are carried out on site in Weinstadt.
The Bernd Kussmaul GmbH would like to thank in particular the Swabian Gymnastics Federation for the trust they have placed, also thanks all their network partners for the great cooperation and wishes all German athletes a successful tournament.
