KUSSMAUL with Heart

Supporting social, cultural or sports projects is a matter of the heart of our mouths. Through our commitment to and in our region, we want to contribute to society as well as to the community. The region gives us so much – so we want to give our part back as well.

Hospizstiftung Rems-Murr-Kreis e.V.

“A good life to the last needs four walls and a roof” – this is the motto for the new building of the Hospice Foundation Rems-Murr-Kreis e.V.. A good life to the last – we all wish for ourselves and our loved ones. And that’s why we all have something to do.

Since 1995, the Hospice Foundation Rems-Murr-Kreis E. V. has been accompanying seriously ill and dying people in this borderline situation of their lives. In addition to the outpatient volunteer support at home, in the nursing home or in the hospital, we have been the carrier of the stationary hospice in Backnang since 2004. There we can provide our guests with the best possible care, medical, psycho-social and spiritual support around the clock. We want to enable people to live a good life up to the last – as individual and unique as we are.

We at Bernd Kußmaul GmbH are once again supporting the youngest members of our society by donating to the “Schlupfwinkel” organization in Stuttgart, which provides valuable support for children and young people.

The “Schlupfwinkel” is an open drop-in center for young people aged 12 to 25 who are living on the streets or in difficult circumstances. It offers practical support such as food, showers, laundry facilities, internet access, and counseling.

Many of these young people come from challenging family situations, face stress at school or with authorities, lack education, and often struggle with debt or legal issues. They are looking for stability and perspective – and at Schlupfwinkel, they find people who listen, support, and guide them without applying pressure.

We wholeheartedly support this dedicated and trust-based work with our donation.

“What comes from the heart touches the heart.” (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)

Giving gifts is a Christmas tradition—and at Bernd Kußmaul GmbH, we have upheld this tradition for over 25 years, both for our business partners and employees.

We are grateful for our stable position and remain optimistic about the future. However, recent years have heightened our awareness and broadened our focus.

In 2023, we supported the valuable work of the food banks in Weinstadt and Waiblingen.

With rescued food, their dedicated volunteers help people in need—creating balance and connection. True humanity reveals itself where we meet each other with heart and dedication, especially in difficult times. This extraordinary commitment deserves our deepest respect and heartfelt thanks.

In 2021, Bernd Kussmaul GmbH from Weinstadt-Großheppach gave each of the 2,700 employees of the Rems-Murr clinics in Winnenden and Schorndorf a €25 voucher as a thank you for their dedication to nursing and medical care. The vouchers could be redeemed at local stores.

Managing Director Bernd Kußmaul explained that the funds originally planned for the company’s 25th anniversary and Christmas gifts were instead given to the clinic staff as a token of appreciation for their hard work, especially during the pandemic. At the same time, the initiative also supported local retailers in the region.

The idea originated from the ProSieben special “Pflege ist #NichtSelbstverständlich,” which highlighted the challenges faced by healthcare workers. To increase the total amount to €70,000, the Kussmauls waived their traditional Christmas gift packages for customers in 2021. However, the Christmas card still included small personal messages as a surprise.
